I'm using Audacity 1.3.5 Beta and I've compressed the song, amplified it, then boosted the bass, it left the vocals sounding a little static-y. I tried again with just boosting the bass, once again the entire song is perfect, not distorted just better bass, but the vocals have a slight static sound to them at the parts with heavy bass, it's better than the first try, but it's still ruining the song quality. include a few more details.
first of all are you going over 0DBFS. cuz then that is the problem.
what do you have you compressor settings at?
what did you boost the bass with? an eq? what are your settings?
what type of music is it? genre?
