How to add space between clips in Audacity?

I am looking for a way to automatically add a certain amount of time between each audio clip (on the same track) in Audacity, like a gap. I would also like to know how to automatically delete the last second (or so) of each clip (on the same track) in Audacity. Please answer.How to add space between clips in Audacity?
It can't be done automatically - it has to be manual..

Version 1.3.11 has the ability to select the exact amount of silence.

Via the Generate menu:

Place cursor line / generate / silence.

Delete the last +/- second - normal cut procedure:

Highlight / Edit / Cut.



If that seems fiddly consider that it can take me 20 hours or more to compile 12 - 14 tracks for a cheermix type CD.
