How to edit a videos audio on audacity?

Hi, i need to edit a movie trailer for school. I've donwloaded the trailers audio onto audacity and i need to speak over the actors and everyone who speaks etc. But i want to keep the sound effects in the trailer that are already present. Any idea how i can do that?
