Why Wont my microphone work with audacity?

I have windows vista and am using audacity for a project in my health class. We are making a podcast. It says i have the microphone but isnt showing up as a microphone on audacity.Why Wont my microphone work with audacity?
Do you have it plugged into the microphone input on your soundcard?



Not line in - but microphone. Make sure you have the right port.



Then go into the settings in audacity and you should be able to select the input. Pick the mic in (you might have to select your soundcard as the audio device too).
