Whats the difference between Audacity and Cubase?

Audacity is free.

Cubase and other recording tools are expensive.

Why exactly is this (educated answers only please)Whats the difference between Audacity and Cubase?
Cubase is bad?

Do you work for a competing DAW company or something?

Audacity is aimed more at audio editing with the ability to do multi channel audio mixing and some pitch bend/time warp features along with various plugins, one of which allows audacity to use the commonly used VST audio plugin format.

Audacity is fine if you just want to process audio, mix it together, make mashups etc.

Cubase has been on the go for years, starting off as a midi sequencer then branching out into an audio sequencer as well.

The deal is, cubase is an infinitly more powerful program, aimed at professionals who want a professional sound with as many tools at their disposal as possible. audacity is a relatively capable program in its own right, and considering its free, is a must have for people starting out in the world of sound/music production.

There's really no need to buy cubase unless you have a good understanding of music tech and are serious about getting the best from your productions.

I'd try audacity and if/when you find it limiting, look into considering cubase.Whats the difference between Audacity and Cubase?
you buy cubase, but you download audacity. cubase has more effects but i have it and it is pretty bad.
