How do I edit my voice when i record it in Audacity?

I want to sing along to a song, %26amp; the song has the beat %26amp; some vocals. The problem is when i record my voice it sounds low %26amp; some of the words can't be heard because the instruments in the song take over. Also even if i do record my voice does anyone know how to alter/change the voice in a good way IN AUDACITY?How do I edit my voice when i record it in Audacity?
Are you recording in multi-track format - that is recording your vocal on a new track while playing the song?.

Are you using a hand held microphone and not an inbuilt laptop mic?

It's not possible to give a specific answer without knowing the above.

Regardless of the audio level in the final mix it is normal recording studio practice to record each track as loud as possible without distortion.

The balance of the levels is adjusted when doing the final mixdown.

There is a selection of effects in Audacity which can be added to vocals but don't overdo it.



To set up for multi-track recording:

Version 1.2 via File menu.

Preferences / Audio I/O tab and check:

"play other tracks while recording new one".

Version 1.3.12 - Edit / Preferences / Recording:

"Playthrough / Overdub / "play other tracks while recording new one".

Import the first track then monitor it while recording subsequent track/s.

It's best to use headphones while doing this to prevent feedback.
make sure the input recording level is turned up enough for you to hear it, but not so much it clips. once you've recorded it, use the equalizer to tweak it to sound better (you can amplify or de-amplify (if thats a word) certain frequencies to better suit your vocal sound), then use the normailzer and tell it to boost it to -0.1dB, then use compression to make the whole thing the same volume =] have fun =]How do I edit my voice when i record it in Audacity?

audacity,is it a software?you can use the software of "audition",first,you play the instrument in a track,when you play over and then you can record your vocal in track.you have to learn how to edit the vocal if you want to do the effect .deal the vocals with the "VST"software.
