How to make a ringtone with audacity?

I'm trying to take a 20 second piece of a song, import it into audacity, and then send it to my phone through email. My only problem is that when I save the 20 second sound clip it is a lot larger than I want it to be. I want it to be less than 1 mb but no matter what I try I can't change the file size. Is there any way to either compress the file with audacity or lessen the sound quality so it doesn't take up so much space?How to make a ringtone with audacity?
Make sure you're exporting the file as a .MP3 file. You do (File -%26gt; Export...). Then under save as type, select MP3 file. If you were using WAV or the uncompressed type, it would explain the big file size.
