How can I get Audacity to correctly work on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop?

I have downloaded Audacity onto my laptop - but I can't find the correct input recording microphone thingy that I need to record internal sounds being issued from my laptop. Now, I have been told that Windows Vista is the source of the problem - but I just wanted to double check because I really need audacity to work! Any suggestions or advice would be great! Thanks.|||Hi. I have used Audacity for years but always with an input to get an audio file. This is true for both laptops and desktops. You can try using internal audio by modifying the audio inputs under the volume control. Open all of them and unmute them all. Record as well as playback. Good luck!
