Ok i'm using Audacity to record over an instrumental but there is a problem?I use my rock band Microphone?
When I import my instrumental which is an mp3 into Audacity and press the record button I don't hear anything at all. Like I only hear my voice meaning its not with the instrumental at all i don't even hear the instrumental when I record.But than when I don't record I can play the instrumental sound with no problem. It's a multi-track recording app but the function needs to be user set..
Multi-track recording setup:
Version 1.2 via File menu, version 1.3 via Edit menu.
Preferences / Audio I/O tab and check:
"play other tracks while recording new one".
Import the first track then monitor it while recording subsequent track/s.
It's best to use headphones while doing this to prevent feedback.

How do I add a vst plugin to audacity effects?
every time i add a plugin on the plugins directory file in the audacity file and go onto the program and check the rescan vst effects when you restart the program box and i restart audacity the plugins never show up on the effcets or anything else. i see the name when it scanning the the effects but when it opens its not there. am i doing something wrong?How do I add a vst plugin to audacity effects?
you should check the fil-type of your plug-in. audacity only responds to certain file types of plug-ins. depending on what model you have of it depends on what type you need. hope i helped a little. good luck! and don't give up! audacity is a tough program to figure out sometimes. lolrevlon makeup

How can I make audacity open properly?
I downloaded the program audacity onto my computer. Unfortunately, I use windows Vista, which is very buggy. I have been using it for years. The only catch is that I have to open the audacity program first, and then open the project I am working on. I can't just click on the icon from the program and open it. I've tried going under "open this program with..." but audacity is never listed as one of the programs that I can use.

Click browse and look for either the application or the shortcut to the application. If the shortcut to Audacity is on your desktop, simply go to that directory and select Audacity as the default program for that file type.
