How can I record a second audio track in audacity without re-recording the first track?

Most of the songs i record have more than one vocal or guitar part. But when i try to record a second track on audacity 1.2.6, it just records the first track again, so it doesn't come out like i wanted it to come out like.|||what type of ques is that..
